Components of the 4, 6, and 8 Cylinder Engine Sequential Injection CNG Kits

The CNG pressure regulator (aka "reducer") takes the high pressure CNG from the cylinder tank and then reduces it to a low pressure natural gas that the car engine can handle. This is a critical and expensive component of the CNG conversion kit. The SkyCNG regulator is made of the highest quality.

When you reduce high pressure gas, the gas will be very cold as it lowers in pressure. Our regulators have an intake hose that pulls water/coolant from your engine's cooling system (which is hot of course), and then uses it to keep things from freezing up.



The "brain" of the kit is ths ECU, or "Engine Control Unit". The ECU controls the timing and ratio of CNG into your vehicles engine. It must be programmed custom for each car. SkyCNG will provide you with the USB cable and software required to plug in to your car's OBDII and calibrate the CNG conversion kit. There are also wiring harnesses and that tie everything together, the MAP Sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure) that allows autocalibration when the engine is at idle, and the simple digital fuel gauge and on/off switch that goes on your car's dashboard.

The CNG solenoid valve is a major safety component of the CNG car conversion and is integrated on the reducer. This is a type of "switch". The high pressure CNG goes in and out of this valve, but is electronically controlled to shut off when the CNG is not in use.

CNG injector rails must be installed as close as possible to the manifold injector nozzles in order to have CNG hoses as short as possible. Each injector is carefully calibrated to deliver the right amount of fuel to each cylinder (six cylinder vehicles will only have three on each rail). Concerning the position of the manifold nozzles, it is necessary to drill the intake manifolds between 3 to 15cm from engine head. In engines with multiple valves, we suggest you drill intake manifolds duly before the gasoline injectors in order to allow a homogeneous mixing of the fuel before it reaches the intake.

The rail nozzles are replaceable and must be certain sizes for certain engines to achieve the best performance. SkyCNG will let you know which sizes are best.

The SkyCNG conversion kits also come with:

  • 20 feet of high pressure stainless steel hose for connecting the cylinder to the regulator
  • Lots of rubber hoses, brackets, screws, and all the vacuum "T"s and clamps you will need
  • CNG Manometer (in-line gas pressure gauge)
  • Gasoline Injector Cut-off Electrical Harness (stops the gasoline when CNG is running)
